Job Description The Business Intelligence & Analytics (BI&A) team has a simple mission: we turn massive amounts of data into actionable insights that ensure seamless, secure commerce experiences across Visa’s physical and digital eco-system. Our analytic and data professionals deliver on this mission by implementing data-based solutions, analysis, and insights targeted at maintaining security, reducing fraud rates, and preserving the integrity of the largest payment processing network in the world. The Decision Analytics Manager works directly with key stakeholders, taking ownership of their strategic questions and using data and analytics to arrive at recommendations that drive better business outcomes. This isn’t a role for someone who can do a bit of both — it’s for someone genuinely excellent at both: technical enough to build the answer yourself, business-savvy enough to know it’s the right question in the first place, driven by genuine curiosity about the business behind every ask. This is an individual-contributor role with no direct reports — you choose the approach and tools yourself, including AI. The role has regular exposure to senior leaders across the organization. Responsibilities The Decision Analytics Manager role will take requests directly from stakeholders across the Global Risk organization, understand the business context behind each one, determine the right approach to answer it, and be personally accountable for delivering a recommendation that drives a better business outcome. This person is experienced in scoping an ambiguous ask quickly, choosing the right tool for the job (including AI), and knowing when a question needs more rigor than it was asked with. You must be able to deliver on strategic initiatives and influence outcomes independently, without a team to lean on. Approach every request with genuine curiosity about the business problem behind it — understanding what decision it supports before deciding on a method or a tool. Take requests directly from key stakeholders, clarify the real business question behind the ask, and determine the fastest credible approach to answer it. Own each request end to end — from the first conversation with the stakeholder through the final recommendation — without handing pieces of it off to a team. Use the best available tool for each question — SQL, Tableau/Power BI, AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code, or a combination — rather than defaulting to a standard dashboard or report. Build analyses that benchmark performance against peers or history (e.g., comparing an issuer's or acquirer's fraud and approval performance) to give stakeholders a credible frame of reference for a decision. Leverage data and analytics on fraud and dispute patterns to inform ecosystem security and integrity decisions, translating findings into a specific recommendation. Know when a question is bigger than it looks, and escalate or reframe it before you invest time answering the wrong thing. Serve as the subject matter expert stakeholders come to with a business problem, not just a request for data. Contribute to a high performing culture that becomes the benchmark for excellence at Visa by sharing your approach and judgment with other analysts in the function, even without a formal mentoring mandate. Move the organization from interesting to actionable — every piece of work should end in a recommendation that changes a decision, not just a finding. Craft the recommendations and presentations that carry them yourself, ensuring senior stakeholders get a clear answer and a clear “so what.” Champion the responsible use of AI tools in your own work — knowing when they speed up getting to an answer, and validating their output before it informs a decision. Cultivate relationships with stakeholders so they bring you the real question early, rather than a pre-formed request for a specific output. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Genuine curiosity about the business behind the data — you ask why before you ask how, and you don't start building until you understand what decision the answer needs to support. 5 years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 3 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g., Masters/MBA/JD/MD). Demonstrated ability to take an ambiguous business question from a stakeholder, scope it, and determine the right approach to answer it. Comfort owning a stakeholder relationship and a request end to end yourself, without a team to delegate pieces of the work to. Genuine, hands-on skill with AI-assisted tools (e.g., Claude Code, Microsoft Copilot, or similar), SQL, and visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) — paired with the business judgment to know when and how to apply them. This role needs real strength in both, not one standing in for the other. Preferred Qualifications 6+ years of progressive success in individual-contributor roles of increasing responsibility and visibility. 3+ years working in analytics, risk, management consulting, strategic operations or insight delivery, with direct exposure to senior stakeholders. Experience operating as a direct, individual point of contact for senior stakeholders in a matrixed, global organization. Track record of recommendations that changed a business decision, not just analyses that were delivered. Direct experience using Claude Code or similar agentic AI coding tools to get to an answer faster, including judgment on when not to. Excellent presentation and communication abilities, especially distilling a recommendation to its “so what.” Knowledge of Visa’s products, services, and client engagement strategies. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills are required. Working familiarity with basic statistical techniques (e.g., trend and variance analysis) to sanity-check a finding before it goes to a stakeholder. Visa is an EEO Employer Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or protected veteran status. Visa will also consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with EEOC guidelines and applicable local law.
