Position Summary The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of manufacturing teams producing thermal field emitters used in electron microscopy. These products are manufactured in a cleanroom environment where process discipline, precision, and close partnership with engineers and other subject matter experts are essential to successful execution.   This role requires a leader who can balance operational performance with the continued development of the people, systems, and processes that support long-term organizational growth. The successful candidate will be expected to build a strong understanding of the manufacturing processes they oversee, use that knowledge to make sound operational decisions, and work effectively across technical functions to resolve issues, improve performance, and support production readiness.   In addition to leading daily execution, this role will help integrate multiple manufacturing areas into a cohesive workstream, lead significant operational changes, develop team and leadership capability, and strengthen the systems used to manage training, performance, and continuous improvement.   The ideal candidate is an approachable and decisive leader who is comfortable operating in ambiguity, technically curious, and effective at building productive relationships across manufacturing, engineering, and other functional groups. They should be equally capable of responding to immediate production needs and thinking ahead about how the organization, its people, and its processes need to evolve.     Key Responsibilities Manufacturing Leadership Lead daily manufacturing activities with a strong focus on safety, quality, delivery, employee development, and operational performance. Establish clear goals, priorities, and expectations for the team and ensure consistent execution against them. Maintain sufficient presence within the manufacturing areas to personally understand operating conditions, team dynamics, successes, and challenges. Promote sustainable performance and appropriate work/life balance.   Organizational Integration and Change Leadership Lead the integration and relocation of multiple manufacturing departments into a single, coordinated workstream rather than operating as independent areas with minimal impact to production schedules. Lead change in a manner that maintains employee engagement, operational discipline, and continuity of production. Evaluate the effectiveness of the current visual management system and update it to align with organizational standards.   People Leadership and Development Coach and develop employees at both the individual and team level. Create an environment where employees can provide constructive feedback and differing perspectives. Develop, implement, and maintain a training maturity matrix that provides clear visibility into team capability, qualification status, skill depth, and development needs. Partner with employees and subject matter experts to ensure training reflects current processes and expectations.   New Product Introduction and Production Readiness Own the production leadership responsibilities associated with New Product Introduction (NPI) including development, readiness, and execution activities. Ensure lessons learned from new product introductions are incorporated into future planning and operational practices.     Qualifications Required At least 4 years of experience leading teams in a manufacturing, operations, or similarly complex technical environment. Experience managing competing production priorities while maintaining safety, quality, and delivery expectations. Strong communication, planning, organization, and decision-making skills. Experience using performance metrics and structured problem solving to improve operational results. Experience supporting new product introduction and transition into routine manufacturing.   Preferred Experience leading manufacturing-area consolidations, relocations, equipment moves, or other significant operational transitions. Familiarity with established operational and organizational improvement methodologies such as Lean, ISO-based quality systems, ADKAR, or comparable frameworks. Experience developing front-line leaders or assessing readiness for expanded leadership responsibility. Ability to work effectively across functional boundaries and influence stakeholders without relying solely on positional authority.
