About the role
The Energy Cash Management Director is a senior leadership role within Leidos' Cash Management organization, responsible for driving cash generation, billing production, and working capital performance across the Energy Business Area's high-volume invoicing operations. This position leads a ~40-person team through a demanding, transaction-heavy environment characterized by high volumes of invoices tied to utility engineering services and time-and-materials (T&M) or Fixed Fee projects. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of production dynamics, shared service operations, and the full “procure to pay” and “contract to cash” lifecycles, paired with strong process reengineering and change management fundamentals. This leader will manage the organization through clearly defined KPIs, using data to drive accountability, identify bottlenecks, and continuously improve billing throughput and accuracy. A central focus of this role is building and executing a forward-looking strategy that embeds automation and AI across the invoicing process — reducing manual touchpoints, accelerating cycle times, and improving the quality and consistency of large-scale invoice production. This role also engages regularly in enterprise-level planning, developing a conceptual and operational understanding of how both Cash Management and performing groups contribute to optimizing and maintaining Leidos' cash generation and liquidity profile. Primary Responsibilities As a senior leader within a dynamic organization, partner with the Line/Functional organizations to proactively improve existing processes while achieving established service levels and quarterly cash targets, with an emphasis on growing high-performing individuals along a career path that supports current and future placement. Own and report on a KPI-driven management framework for a high-volume invoicing operation — covering metrics such as invoice throughput, cycle time, aging, error/rework rates, Day to invoice (DTI) and Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) to drive performance, transparency, and continuous improvement across the team. Define and execute a forward-looking strategy that leverages AI and automation to transform the invoicing process, from invoice generation and validation through exception handling and collections support. Lead a highly transactional, volume-based business supporting utility engineering services with a high volume of time-and-materials (T&M) or Fixed Fee projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness at scale. Create integration plans and/or directly manage tasking that comes into Cash Management as a result of process enhancement, or organizational change. Manage Cash Management's role in transformational opportunities, reviewing processes and workflow for continuous improvement across all teams within Cash Management, and backfilling onsite management for a large service organization as needed. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of related experience in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management, with an emphasis on cash management support. Demonstrated experience managing high volumes of invoices within a production or shared-services billing environment. Proven track record of managing teams and processes through KPIs, using metrics to drive decisions, accountability, and continuous improvement. Experience driving automation and/or AI adoption within invoicing, billing, or broader finance operations. Excellent organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to meet on-time deliverables. Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization, including senior leadership. Demonstrated competencies in change management facilitation and team collaboration. Leadership experience with an emphasis on talent development and retention. Results-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills and an aptitude for influencing outside one's immediate span of control. Proficiency in Deltek Vantagepoint. Preferred Qualifications Experience implementing AI-enabled or automated invoicing/billing tools within a large-scale, high-volume environment. Background in the energy or utilities sector, or with T&M contract structures. If you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
