As a Risk Management Supervisor, you will help oversee the day-to-day safety and security operations of the hotel while providing guidance and support to the Risk Management team and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for our guests and Heartists. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: Provide leadership and direction to Risk Management Officers during assigned shifts, ensuring consistent execution of hotel safety, security, and emergency procedures. Support the health, safety, and security of all hotel guests, Heartists, visitors, and hotel assets. Lead by example in providing warm, professional, and helpful service while maintaining a strong safety and security presence throughout the hotel. Maintain a thorough understanding of the hotel's life safety systems and take a leadership role during emergency situations, including fire alarms, evacuations, medical emergencies, bomb threats, severe weather, and other emergency procedures. Respond to and oversee incidents occurring throughout the hotel, ensuring situations are handled promptly, professionally, and in accordance with established procedures. Review incident reports and investigations for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate follow-up, escalating significant matters to Risk Management and hotel leadership as needed. Conduct thorough investigations of incidents, accidents, injuries, losses, disturbances, and other security-related matters, including gathering statements, reviewing available information, and maintaining detailed documentation. Enforce hotel policies and procedures and partner with hotel leadership to address and correct safety, security, or policy violations. Provide coaching, guidance, and on-the-job training to Risk Management Officers to promote consistency, accountability, and professional development. Assist with shift assignments, daily briefings, pass-down communication, and follow-up on outstanding Risk Management matters. Demonstrate the ability to effectively interact with guests and Heartists, using professionalism, sound judgment, and diplomacy to de-escalate challenging situations and gather accurate information. Conduct regular patrols of guest areas, Heartist areas, back-of-house spaces, and the hotel perimeter, while ensuring Risk Management Officers complete assigned patrols and responsibilities. Oversee Lost and Found procedures and ensure items are properly documented, secured, stored, and released according to hotel policy. Ensure package pass procedures are consistently followed for hotel property leaving the building. Enforce key-control procedures, including proper sign-in/sign-out practices and completion of required key inventories. Identify potential safety hazards, security concerns, and areas of risk throughout the property and ensure appropriate corrective action or escalation. Maintain clear communication with hotel leadership and other departments regarding incidents, operational concerns, and matters requiring follow-up. Assist Risk Management leadership with training, audits, safety initiatives, emergency preparedness, and other departmental responsibilities as needed. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Physical Requirements Physical aspects of the position include, but are not limited to: Constant standing and walking throughout the shift. Frequent bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 20 lbs. Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps. Qualifications YOUR ESPERIENCE AND SKILLS INCLUDE: High School Diploma or GED required; additional education or training in Security, Risk Management, Criminal Justice, Hospitality, or a related field is an asset. 2–3 years of related security, risk management, loss prevention, or safety experience; previous supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred. Previous experience in a hotel, hospitality, or similarly fast-paced environment is an asset. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with Opera or other hotel systems is an asset. Strong leadership skills with the ability to provide direction, coaching, and support to Risk Management Officers. Strong interpersonal, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to remain composed, exercise sound judgment, and take appropriate action during emergency or high-pressure situations. Strong investigative skills with the ability to gather information, assess situations, and conduct thorough follow-up. Excellent report-writing skills with strong attention to accuracy, detail, and confidentiality. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests, Heartists, leadership, and outside emergency personnel. Ability to professionally manage and de-escalate challenging or sensitive situations while remaining calm, courteous, and respectful. Highly responsible, dependable, and able to maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion. Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively as part of a team. Ability to lead by example and hold team members accountable to established policies, procedures, and service standards. Ability to anticipate and respond to guest and Heartist needs while maintaining a professional, welcoming, and safety-focused approach. Ability to work rotating shifts as needed, including mornings, afternoons, mid-shifts, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Ability to maintain a flexible schedule based on the operational needs of the hotel. Warm, caring, approachable, and helpful, with a genuine commitment to the safety and well-being of others.
