Position Overview Woolpert is seeking a Project Manager II to join our growing Energy Group. This position is responsible for leading and delivering complex energy-related projects while serving as the primary liaison between clients, project teams, and business stakeholders. The Project Manager will oversee project planning, execution, financial performance, scheduling, risk management, and client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership, communication, and project management skills, along with experience supporting utility, energy, transmission, distribution, pipeline, renewable energy, or related infrastructure projects. This role requires the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality solutions that meet client expectations and business objectives. What You Will Do Project Delivery Lead energy-related projects from initiation through closeout, ensuring successful delivery of scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client requirements. Develop and manage project work plans, schedules, budgets, resource forecasts, and project documentation. Monitor project performance and proactively identify, communicate, and resolve risks, issues, and schedule impacts. Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, design, GIS, survey, environmental, permitting, and construction support staff. Ensure project deliverables meet Woolpert quality standards and client expectations. Client Management Build and maintain strong relationships with utility, energy, and infrastructure clients. Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects. Lead project status meetings and communicate progress, risks, and key decisions to stakeholders. Identify opportunities to expand services and support client growth initiatives. Financial Management Manage project budgets, profitability, invoicing, forecasts, and overall financial performance. Monitor labor utilization, subcontractor costs, and project expenditures. Review project performance metrics and implement corrective actions as necessary. Support contract administration, change order management, and scope negotiations. Leadership & Collaboration Facilitate communication and collaboration among project teams, clients, and leadership. Mentor and support developing project managers, engineers, and technical staff. Promote a culture of accountability, safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Work closely with Market Leaders, Program Directors, and Discipline Leaders to align project execution with business objectives. Business Development Support Assist with proposals, staffing plans, project budgets, and client presentations. Participate in project pursuits and strategic growth initiatives. Support the development of long-term client relationships within the energy market. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered. 5+ years of project management experience supporting energy, utility, civil infrastructure, engineering, or related projects. Demonstrated experience managing project schedules, budgets, client communications, and deliverables. Strong understanding of project management principles, risk management, budgeting, forecasting, and stakeholder engagement. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Professional Engineer (PE) license. Experience supporting electric utility, transmission and distribution, renewable energy, natural gas, substation, or pipeline projects. Experience using Deltek Vantagepoint, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar project management tools. Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering and infrastructure teams. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities. Ability to identify project risks early and drive resolution. Strong business acumen and financial management skills. Ability to influence stakeholders and build consensus. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
