About the role

About the Role We are hiring a Business Control Manager to join Chime's Compliance Business Control Management team. You will own the control strategy, business relationships, and results for the Membership, App and AI Experience, and Trust and Safety portfolios. Working with the Enterprise BCM Lead and business partners, you will translate new initiatives, existing business activities, regulatory requirements, incidents, and other changes into clear control outcomes and practical plans. This is an individual contributor role for someone who can move comfortably between strategy and delivery. You will assess current control coverage, lead material control decisions and implementation work within your portfolios, and ensure controls are validated, documented, and maintained. Business and control owners remain responsible for implementing and operating their controls; you will provide the structure, challenge, and partnership needed to produce durable results. You will also contribute across the Enterprise BCM team by supporting Enterprise work when priorities and capacity require it, and by helping identify shared exposure themes and common control approaches across portfolios. In This Role You Can Expect To Own the control strategy and coverage view for assigned portfolios, using business activities, regulatory requirements, existing controls, gaps, and dependencies to set priorities. Evaluate new initiatives and the existing environment through reviews of process or product changes, incidents, complaints, findings, and current control practices. Determine whether controls should be reused, enhanced, created, consolidated, or retired. Lead control design and implementation with business and control owners, establishing clear objectives, scope, ownership, evidence, exception handling, delivery plans, and closure criteria while keeping control ownership and operation with the business. Assess control readiness, coordinate owner attestations, and determine whether controls meet the agreed validation criteria. Arrange an independent reviewer when your involvement in implementation requires additional separation. Lead control responses to incidents, issues, complaints, and findings by connecting root causes to control gaps, establishing remediation expectations, and confirming affected controls are revalidated before closure. Maintain reliable control records and use coverage, implementation, validation, and exception data to identify recurring themes, recommend shared approaches, and communicate results and remaining exposure to leadership. Build strong relationships across business, product, engineering, operations, legal, compliance, risk, and data teams, and support bank partner reviews, audits, examinations, and other assurance activities. To Thrive in This Role You Have 7 or more years of experience in business controls, regulatory compliance, operational risk, audit, or a related discipline within financial services, fintech, or another highly regulated environment. Experience independently owning a complex portfolio or control environment, setting priorities, leading cross-functional decisions, and moving work from assessment through validated and documented closure. Demonstrated ability to evaluate business activities and control coverage, distinguish control gaps from documentation or mapping gaps, and develop practical responses. Hands-on experience designing or enhancing controls with business, product, engineering, operations, or data teams and defining the evidence needed to demonstrate that controls operate as designed. Sound knowledge of consumer financial protection and regulatory risk, including EFTA and Regulation E, TILA and Regulation Z, UDAAP, or comparable frameworks. Strong judgment, influence, and communication skills, including the ability to challenge senior partners constructively, work through competing priorities, translate complex requirements, and identify when leadership escalation is needed. Strong execution and organization skills, including managing multiple workstreams, dependencies, decisions, exceptions, and control records within a GRC platform or comparable system of record. #LI-LB1 #LI-Onsite Below is the base salary offered for this role and level of experience.
