About the role

At Serve Robotics, we’re reimagining how things move in cities. Our personable sidewalk robot is our vision for the future. It’s designed to take deliveries away from congested streets, make deliveries available to more people, and benefit local businesses. The Serve fleet has been delighting merchants, customers, and pedestrians along the way in Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas, Atlanta and Chicago while doing commercial deliveries. We’re looking for talented individuals who will grow robotic deliveries from surprising novelty to efficient ubiquity. WHO WE ARE We are tech industry veterans in software, hardware, and design who are pooling our skills to build the future we want to live in. We are solving real-world problems leveraging robotics, machine learning and computer vision, among other disciplines, with a mindful eye towards the end-to-end user experience. Our team is agile, diverse, and driven. We believe that the best way to solve complicated dynamic problems is collaboratively and respectfully. Responsibilities - Design, develop, and validate electrical circuits, PCBs, harnesses, and subsystem architectures for autonomous robotic platforms. - Own electrical subsystem development from concept through prototype, validation, production release, and lifecycle support. - Lead hardware bring-up, debugging, characterization, and verification activities in partnership with firmware and software teams. - Perform root cause analysis and resolve complex electrical and system-level issues identified during development, manufacturing, and field operations. - Develop test plans, validation procedures, and performance metrics to ensure subsystem reliability and quality. - Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, systems, test, manufacturing, and operations teams to support successful subsystem integration and product execution. - Partner with suppliers and manufacturing teams on component selection, DFM/DFT improvements, production readiness, and issue resolution. - Support prototype builds, factory activities, engineering investigations, and field issue resolution as needed. - Contribute to technical documentation, design reviews, engineering standards, and continuous improvement initiatives. - Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience. - 8+ years of experience designing and testing electrical systems for robotics, consumer electronics, automotive, aerospace, or other electromechanical products. - Strong experience with schematic design, PCB development, subsystem integration, and electrical system validation. - Hands-on experience debugging and testing electrical subsystems using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and function generators. - Experience with embedded systems development, hardware bring-up, debugging, and failure analysis. - Experience using industry-standard ECAD tools, preferably Altium. - Experience working with common hardware interfaces such as CAN, SPI, UART, I2C, and USB. - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to independently drive technical work through ambiguity. - Experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams. What Makes You Stand Out - Experience designing DC-DC power systems and power distribution architectures. - Experience with high-speed circuit design and signal integrity analysis. - Experience developing test automation tools using Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages. - Experience with EMC/EMI compliance testing and regulatory validation. - Familiarity with Nvidia Jetson platforms and embedded compute systems. - Experience working with sensors, cameras, LiDAR, motors, battery systems, thermal systems, or cellular networking technologies. - Experience with cable harness design and manufacturing support. - Experience supporting production ramp activities and overseas manufacturing partners. - Experience in robotics, automotive, aerospace, medical device, or other complex electromechanical industries. Additional Information This role may require occasional travel to support prototype builds, manufacturing activities, supplier engagement, and engineering validation efforts. The position is expected to operate with a high degree of technical ownership while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable electrical systems at scale.
