About the role

Overview:   The Senior Software Reliability Engineer is responsible for the reliability, performance, and operational health of Inovalon’s commercial cloud platforms, with a primary focus on AWS. This role sits at the intersection of cloud operations and platform engineering, with a focus on defining and enforcing governance and standards, developing infrastructure as code, and ensuring that systems meet non-functional requirements including availability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency. The SRE partners closely with application engineering teams to design resilient systems and drive a culture of operational excellence. Duties and Responsibilities: - Define, implement, and enforce governance and standards for Inovalon’s cloud platforms, with a primary focus on AWS; - Serve as a subject matter expert in service reliability, sustainability, and efficiency; ensure platform solutions meet availability, performance, security, maintainability, and cost-efficiency requirements; - Design and implement platform-level features and infrastructure using cloud best practices, with a primary focus on AWS; - Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform and comparable tooling; contribute to CI/CD pipeline development and automation; - Develop, gather, and leverage operational metrics to monitor platform health, drive automation, and continuously improve performance and reliability; - Collaborate with application engineering, product, and security teams to support system design, troubleshooting, and incident resolution; - Discover, review, and influence evolving design, architecture, and standards for cloud-based infrastructure and services; - Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies; - Adhere to all confidentiality, HIPAA, regulatory, and other such policies, procedures, and requirements as outlined within Employer’s Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the scope of work; - Maintain compliance with Inovalon’s policies, procedures and mission statement, and fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success; - On Call Policy: Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical issues, including outside standard business hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays), ensuring timely response and resolution as per defined SLAs. Job Requirements: - Minimum 3 years of experience in a Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, or DevOps role; - AWS expertise required, including hands-on experience with cloud-native infrastructure, networking, storage, and security; familiarity with Azure, GCP, OCI, or Snowflake is a plus; - Strong infrastructure as code experience required; proficiency with Terraform and CI/CD tooling such as Azure DevOps or Azure Pipelines; - Scripting proficiency in one or more of the following: Python, PowerShell, Linux Shell, or comparable languages; - Experience with observability, monitoring, and incident response practices; familiarity with SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets preferred; - Working knowledge of Windows and Linux environments including installation, configuration, and automation; - Excellent troubleshooting skills with a systematic, calm approach to complex operational problems; - Strong communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working across engineering, security, and product teams. Education: - Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology - Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience preferred. Physical Demands and Work Environment: - Sedentary work (i.e. sitting for long periods of time). - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force. - Subject to inside environmental conditions. - Travel for this position will include less than 10% locally usually for training purposes.   This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship (e.g. H-1B, TN, or E-3).
